Simon is widely acknowledged as one of the UK’s leading experts on British Pantomime and is currently exploring the role of celebrity’s impact on the British pantomime industry 1980 – 2010 at the University of Winchester, where he is writing his PhD thesis. He is Assistant Curator, Modern and Contemporary Performance at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Pantomime Editor for The British Theatre Guide. He has written on the subject of pantomime for journals New Theatre Quarterly, Studies in Musical Theatre and Popular Entertainment Studies and has provided pantomime related content for the BBC, Channel 4, Birmingham Hippodrome and Parent Dish UK. In 2010 Simon founded National Panto Day and is currently working on the National Database of Pantomime Performance, set to launch in September 2013. |
