Working in the Following Genres:
Stage Shows for Schools and Youth Theatre
Full-Length Plays
One-Act Plays
Abridgements The abridged versions are edited versions of Shakespeare's texts. (That is to say, they preserve the language of the original, but cut out some of the lines.) From a copyright viewpoint, we exercise copyright on the edition of the script - which means that we charge for scripts (and copying rights to scripts) to recover the cost of the work put in by the person who did the abridgement, but the plays can be performed without a performance royalty fee (since that would accrue to Shakespeare, whose works are out of copyright). |
Adaptations and Guest Appearances We also have adaptations of Shakespeare's works. These are modern language editions in various formats. Since these are complete rewrites of the stories, the whole work is copyrighted (so we levy a performance fee as well as charging for scripts.) The bard also makes guest appearances - in one form or another - in various other works. Follow this link for the complete list. |
