Full-Length Plays
Beware of the Agapanthus ‘Beware of the Agapanthus’ was written when I was living in West Cork, Ireland, in the aftermath of the financial crash, which forms a backdrop to the action. It builds up slowly initially to the eventual chaos, with the first act providing an introduction to the characters and the situation. The appearance of Mike in diver’s outfit at the end of this act gives a hint of the mayhem to follow…
The play was first performed by my local drama group, the Glengarriff Theatre Group, in spring 2012, with three performances locally, followed by two further performances at the Carnegie Theatre, Kenmare. It was well received. It has subsequently been performed in 2018 by Bures Stage Society in Norfolk, and in November 2019 by Phoenix Players, Denbigh. I attended the latter performance, in the lovely little Theatr Twm o'r Nant, Denbigh, and was pleased to learn how much the cast enjoyed their roles in the play.
The photographs are from a Carnegie Theatre performance. |
