Deborah is partially sighted and therefore has a great passion for radio and the power of the spoken word. "The Shelter Secrets" was developed from a short radio play produced by the Heritage Arts Company in 2014. Her first writing success was as a teenager when she had a short spy thriller "Walls Have Ears" recorded for local radio. She particularly enjoys writing historical plays including KS2 Musicals and short plays for small casts, of which "New Cat" is her favourite. This was first performed by Hercules Productions in 2015. |
Deborah's experience as a teacher and her interests in history, crime and animals are clear in her writing. Her writer heroes are Jimmy Perry, Francis Durbridge, Agatha Christie, Noel Coward and Alan Ayckbourn. She lives in Hertfordshire with her husband, sons and beloved family pets. |
