Working in the Following Genres:
Plays With (Optional) Music
Stage Shows for Schools and Youth Theatre
After nearly 20 years as a music and theatre educator and director of youth plays, I began writing my own scripts as a natural extension of my work. Almost immediately thereafter, I also began tinkering with scripts for older adults, finding the similarities between my own middle-aged peer relationships to be delightfully - and perhaps also a bit horrifyingly - similar to those of the adolescents I work with.
I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband and we have two grown children who have launched. In spite of having spent thirty-plus years with an urban address, my rural upbringing in western Pennsylvania continues to influence who I am, including the summers I spend as a (blue ribbon) quilter and vegetable gardener. |
Why I write for children I believe young actors deserve scripts with strong characters who have individuality and are age appropriate. Older children are especially eager to explore acting roles written in the adolescent voice. Honoring this mission while also writing for large, flexible ensemble casts thrills me.

Why I write for adults My adult material is largely inspired by a passion to be part of a theater community that provides compelling roles for women. Growing up with five sisters (and one beloved brother), an environment that includes the voices of strong women is one that I naturally seek onstage.
