David is a retired something-or-other from North Yorkshire who likes to make people laugh. Back in the late nineties a group of friends formed a new drama group - the East Harlsey Players - who have recently celebrated their 20th anniversary. David was the first director and established the programme of a pantomime and a comedy play each year, writing ten original panto scripts on the way. |
After directing a series of other people's plays, David picked up the pen and 'Happy Families' was first performed in October 2014. According to a local reviewer,'this is a neatly crafted play, with confident and well-realised performances by all the actors.' David was described as 'a skilful wordsmith, writing witty and perceptive dialogue.' More importantly, the audience laughed a lot. |
Away from the world of comedy, David dabbles in musical theatre and mountain walking, watches his grandchildren in wonder, and walks the family Golden Retriever, who knows a funny script when he sees one. |
