Working in the Following Genre:
Full-Length Plays
Now slipping into his seventies, aargh how the time rushes by, Christopher has been involved in drama for around 40 years working in over 100 shows. Starting out in acting, as most of us do, he has skipped around the stage in leading roles by Ayckbourn, Bennett, Coward and Dickens through to Wilde (but not an X, Y or Z - yet). But really, he prefers directing. He says ‘as an actor you are responsible for your own part, but as director the whole show is yours to bring to life with the full company of performers and creatives, and that is enormously satisfying’. Directing credits have included works by Alan Bennett, Roald Dahl, Nick Darke, Charles Dickens, Debbie Isitt, Sophocles and Dylan Thomas. Genre is no limit. He can be a bit of a name-dropper, but that’s not unusual for us folks in show biz. |
This is his first published script with Lazy Bee, there are more in the pipeline. As a former university lecturer, he has half a dozen maths and other text books published under a different name but does not want to get these two sides of his life mixed up. And anyway, theatre is much more fun. |
Off duty, he’s to be found coastal walking, sailing, gardening and playing bridge and croquet, way out in the west of England. |
