Working in the Following Genre:
One-Act Plays
I’ve been involved with non-professional theatre for most of my life – I am now retired. My plays are generally simply-staged with as few characters as possible, because I know how difficult it can be to get anything put on, let alone watched.

Since I dislike any theatre that hits the audience over the head, my aim is watchableness, with gentle humour and everyday references, while indirectly pointing up one or two aspects of modern life. For instance, you’ll find in “A Helping Hand” irritation that it’s so easy to lump groups of people (say, the elderly) together, that it’s so easy to parrot jargon without really knowing what it means, and that there is so much that needs to be done with so little resource, but on the other hand, we should appreciate people who carry on, doing their best….
