Note that Lazy Bee Scripts does not provide a script for the dialogue.
Because the actors are interacting with the audience, it is not possible to stick to a fixed script. Instead the actors improvise dialogue based on the "narrative arc."
What's a Murder Mystery Event? |
- The audience members are brought together for a fictitious 'special event' (and encouraged to dress appropriately for the occasion). A murder takes place, which the participants are invited to solve.
- In this case
- The event is a dinner to celebrate the imminent launch of a new horror / vampire movie by Buena Pasta Pictures entitled "I’m you number one Fang!" Previous movies by the same director were box office
- The "audience" has the role of the people in the movie business, actors, critics, backers etc.
Since the event is centred on a horror / vampire movie, there is scope for the performers and the au - As the actors progress with the speeches, the plot mystery develops until one of the characters is found murdered...
- This Mystery Needs
- An 'acting company' of 7 to 8 people, including at least 3 men and 3 women
- No specific set or furniture

What's the Mystery Here?
There are two versions (both provided in the scenario pack), one cast for 4 women and 3 men, the other for 3 women and 4 men. (In the following description, substitute "Don" for "Donna" and you will get the gist of the change from one version to the other!)
The time is the present.
Donna Canneloni, head of Buena Pasta Pictures has invited an audience of valued movers and shakers of the movie world to attend a party to celebrate the imminent release of a new picture.
In addition to Donna, other notable guests at the dinner include:
Sam Wannital: The director of the new film.
Ivana Wannital: Sam’s wife, an aspiring author.
Rex Bannister: Actor and star of the movie.
Carla di Lucci: Actress and co-star of movie.
Gracie Dullard: PA to Mr Wannital.
Nick Noble: Talented up and coming director.
What should be a cause for celebration quickly descends into chaos as Donna announces that, having just seen the trailer, she is appalled at the film! Accusations fly, tempers rise and finally we have a double murder!
