What's a Murder Mystery Event? |
- The audience members are brought together for a fictitious 'special event'. A murder takes place, which the participants are invited to solve.
- In this case
- A murder mystery in which the cast perform a set of speeches (formal and informal, fitting the occasion)
- After a murder is discovered, the cast circulate amonst the audience and improvise (based on character briefs) answers to audience questions
- The cast retire and the audience make their accusations.
- The MC reveals whodunnit (and may award prizes for the best solutions from the audience).
- This Mystery Needs
- An 'acting company' of 9 people, including at least 3 men and 5 women
- One set comprising furniture
- Estimated run times (which may vary enormously!)
- Scripted elements: 20 minutes
- Audience interrogation: 25 minutes

What's the Mystery Here?
It is the 30th wedding anniversary dinner of Clark and Barbara Seville (at which the audience are guests). The assembled company includes
Victoria Falls Clark's sister
Sue Flay Barbara's sister
Eddie Bull Clark's nephew
Alison Wonderland Eddie's girlfriend
Annette Curtain a middle-aged widow
Ivor Grudge a middle-aged man
Guiding the proceedings is a professional Master of Ceremonies (who turns to guiding the audience)
To say that people do not take kindly to the barbed comments in the speeches would be an understatement - given that the result is murder.
