Kids in Tights - The Musical by Bill Siviter with Music by Jonny Ardern
RolesMinimum Male roles = 6. Minimum Female roles = 3. Minimum total with doubling = 12. Minimum total without doubling = 12. No chorus. Whilst there isn't a formal requirement for a chorus, there is plenty of opportunity for adding Montagues, Capulets and ball guests.
Run TimeAround 30 minutes. [Estimated!]
MusicPiano and Vocal scores for nine songs are supplied with the Producer's Copy of the script.
StyleRomeo and Juliet told, as an irreverent verse play, by the protagonists and by narrators. A good introduction to Shakespeare's story! (The specified run-time is the minimum - extending the ball and the fight will add time!)
SynopsisShakespeare's Romeo and Juliet condensed into a short verse play for kids, then lengthened because everyone gets so excited that they need to sing about it.
Boy meets girl, love overcomes the family feud - but only for the lovers. Swordplay turns rivals into kebabs. Mistakes are made and the heroes die. (You see, it's a soppy love story.)

Run TimeAround 35 minutes. [Estimated!]

StyleOne-act comedy play for kids (with scope for improvisation - or not, at the discretion of the production!)
SynopsisWhen King Arthur sets out for yet another distant battle, he does not realise that his brilliant idea of entrusting temporary care of Camelot to his cousin, Sir Mordred, is going to backfire. In Arthur's absence Mordred decides that he wants the job on a permanent basis and that includes taking Queen Guinevere as well. Now, as we all know, damsels in distress inevitably attract heroic rescuers. Cue would-be knight Sir Lancelot. What Lancelot lacks in knightly skills he makes up for in enthusiasm. Unfortunately he cannot overcome Mordred and even the returning Arthur needs to turn to the mystic legends of Avalon in order to reclaim Camelot and his Guinevere.

StyleHistorical (in the acurate as a Hollywood epic sense of the word) comedy drama for kids, set during the English Civil War.
SynopsisKing Charles And The Cheese is the entirely (give or take most of it) true story of how a simple piece of cheese altered the course of English history. The English Civil War rages on but, after a heavy defeat at the Battle of Worcester, the would-be King Charles II attempts to make his way to, hopefully temporary, exile in France. In hot pursuit are Charles' enemy Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of All England and his Roundhead army Charles takes cover at the Royal Oak Inn but Cromwell and his men are upon him in short order. Is Charles doomed or can salvation be found in the Royal Oak's larder?

King Lear by Geoff Bamber
RolesMinimum Male roles = 9. Minimum Female roles = 3. Minimum total with doubling = 14. Minimum total without doubling = 14. No chorus. The number of roles can be increased by adding soldiers (the King of France in particular would make good use of them.)
Run TimeAround 55 minutes. [Estimated!]
MusicNone.
StyleShort modern-English version of Shakespeare's tragedy. (Whilst the plot is all there, there are more comic moments than the bard envisaged.) The author has structured this in 13 acts, but don't let that fool you.
SynopsisAn ageing King Lear intends to retire and hand over his throne to one of his squabbling daughters. The Earl of Gloucester, on the other hand, does not intend to retire but his scheming son, Edmund, wants to take over the title anyway, even if it means by-passing the rightful heir, his brother Edgar. The two families' affairs become linked and a violent tale of treachery, jealousy and blind ambition ensues.
Despite the body count running into double figures, this is a comedy.

Kleptomania by Mark Ash
RolesMinimum Male roles = 7. Minimum Female roles = 5. Minimum total with doubling = 20. Minimum total without doubling = 31. No chorus. Characters are a mix of adults and children, but assumed to be performed by a cast of children.
Run TimeAround 100 minutes. [Estimated!]

StyleLarge-cast play set in a school. Comedy, verging on the melodramatic.
SynopsisThe school is under threat of closure, the bursar is gambling with the school funds, the school secretary has left, an inspection is due any minute and things keep going missing (including several pupils). What this school needs is heroism and leadership. What it has got is an incompetent head, staff members bent on partying, a group of very dangerous science students and, somewhere, a kleptomaniac. A tale of muddle, romance and the Mongolian police.

Knight in Shining Armour by Jos Biggs
RolesMinimum Male roles = 2. Minimum Female roles = 1. Minimum total with doubling = 6. Minimum total without doubling = 6. No chorus. The dragon and the horse are nominally male, but they are, after all, a dragon and a horse (and the horse is made from two people), so casting aginst gender is the least of the production's problems.
Run TimeAround 16 minutes. [Estimated!]
MusicNone.
StyleComedy sketch (a long sketch or a very short play!) with minimal set requirements (although it does require a rock and chains).
SynopsisA not-so-heroic knight is on a quest, but when he finds a maiden to rescue, the prospect of going up against an actual fire-breathing dragon is a bit much for him. Luckily for her, there's another option.

The tomb's treasure is to be the centrepiece of a museum for the benefit of all. At least that is the Professor's plan.
