SynopsisThe events which led to the murder of Christopher Marlowe are recounted through the eyes of his friend and artistic collaborator, William Shakespeare. After Marlowe invites Shakespeare to the meetings of Sir Walter Raleigh's 'School of Night', Marlowe's heretical writings and loud public demeanour attract the attention of Sir Robert Cecil, who begins plotting to silence the playwright.

Dead Weight by Rob Ricards

All the characters are written male, but, as the author put it, 'there is no reason why one or two could not be female'. In theory, it could be done by a cast of three, but two of them would have to do a quick change from undertakers to tramps.

StyleFifteen minute absurd comedy (with more than a nod to Samuel Beckett). Single, minimal set and a coffin. (Contains swearing.)
SynopsisTwo undertakers, sick of carrying the coffin after their hearse has broken down, ditch the corpse out to lighten their load. The corpse is happily reanimated by a couple of passing tramps.
(The author provides hints as to the identity of the corpse, but also provides alternative hints - with the option of choosing a death to suit the production!)
