Jack and the Beanstalk [Version 2] by Bob Heather
RolesMinimum Male roles = 5. Minimum Female roles = 5. Minimum total with doubling = 16. Minimum total without doubling = 16. Chorus. Dame assumed to be played by Male, Principal Boy by Female. (Characters include a pantomime cow.)

SynopsisJack keeps dreaming of the missing Princess Lima, meanwhile Granny Bean is falling into debt to the villainous Squire. Jack sells their cow for a handful of beans, but the resulting beanstalk takes him to the realm of Hugh Mungus, the giant, where he rescues the missing princess.

Jack and the Beanstalk [Version 3] by Steve Shaw
RolesMinimum Male roles = 2. Minimum Female roles = 4. Minimum total with doubling = 16. Minimum total without doubling = 18. Chorus. The usual pantomime juxtapositions apply! (In this version, the Giant remains offstage throughout - heard but not seen.)

StyleFull-length English pantomime.
SynopsisIn a failed attempt at poverty eradication, Jack exchanges Daisy the cow for a bag of beans. In a failed attempt at recycling, his mother throws the beans out of the window. Mysteriously, a giant beanstalk grows and, on climbing it, Jack gets to fight a giant Giant, rescue the heroine and live happily ever after. (A traditional pantomime story of success through idiocy!)

Jack and the Beanstalk [Version 4] by James Barry
RolesMinimum Male roles = 2. Minimum Female roles = 2. Minimum total with doubling = 12. Minimum total without doubling = 21. Chorus. This is a British pantomime. The usual juxtapositions of gender are possible! The characters include a giant and a pantomime cow.

SynopsisThe kingdom is in thrall to Giant Plunder (an evil Ogre) and his wife. Poor Dame Trott and her sons Jack and Silly Billy are too poor to pay the rent. Forced to sell their family cow, Jack and Bill manage to exchange it for a mere handful of beans. A giant beanstalk ensues, and a raid on the Ogre's castle in the sky. Heroism and silliness abound!

Jack and the Beanstalk [Version 5] by Jilly McNeil

Unusually for Jack and the Beanstalk, it includes a cameo for Robin Hood and interruptions from four brownies. It also has the usual suspects, including buttercup the cow.

SynopsisA new look at an old favourite, with some highly entertaining and surprising twists. All of the much loved characters are here along with, of course, the beanstalk which Jack climbs twice, encountering some unexpected friends in the ogres who are not quite what they seem. Lots of hilarity, comedy business and audience participation runs through the fast paced plot. With not one but two evil villains, in Ivor Lotacash and Aster La Vista along with their inept assistants Flip and Flop, plotting to evict his mum, Dame Potts, Jack has his work cut out. With the support of his true love Bella, Jack enlists the help of the ogres to thwart the baddies and all live happily ever after.

SynopsisThe Spratt family can't pay the rent for their cottage and greedy Squire Trebormint is going to throw them out. There's nothing for it but to sell the family cow. Unfortunately, Jack swaps it for a handful of beans... Fortunately, they're magic and grow a beanstalk up to Cloudland. Unfortunately, there's a giant up there. Cue heroism, romance and green people...
