This is an adaptation of an old Chinese folk tale, dating back to at least the Tang Dynasty. It balances the traditional tale with an engaging style of dramatization.

Cinderella's stepmother, Elvira, has taken a correspondence course and is now a powerful fairy, able to defeat the Fairy Godmother. Cinderella ends up as a scullery maid, unable to speak, and with the name Linda, and Buttons falls in love all over again. Who can restore the balance of magic and save the day?
