Style:
One-act play for junior/secondary school children, based on an Eastern European folk tale (translated by Antonia Barber). No formal scenes, but several location changes which, in the original production, were managed by the soldiers moving furniture! |
Synopsis:
The young prince of a kingdom inherits the throne and decrees that, since his late father was given a lot of bad advice by his elderly advisors, all old people must be banished. In the meantime his daughter must find a husband from the remaining young men of the kingdom. One young farmer enlists the help and wisdom of his grandfather, who hid from the guards rather than face exile, to win the princess's heart - and restore the new king's trust in the wisdom of age. |
