Synopsis:
Professor Andrew Stokes, new owner of The Old Rectory Cottage, returns from a foreign study visit in time to help wife Rachel organise the village literary festival, based at Saint Fabian's church hall. Star attraction is to be famous romantic novelist, Lydia Bray. The success of the weekend's event is threatened by the arrival of Andrew's oldest friend, Reivers Fenn, professional gambler, lothario and all-round liability. The chances of Reivers failing to be an embarrassment recede as not one, but two, of the women from his past turn up in the village. While one would rather forget that she ever knew him, the other has chosen not to forget that he owes her a lot of money. |
