Some college students return home with a few extra pounds, tattoos, or disappointing grades, but when Irene McManus returns to her conservative southern household with her new boyfriend Tommy, things get messy between her and her mother. Delia doesn't disapprove of Tommy because he's ill-mannered or bad with words. The fact that he's dead, however, whips the prim matriarch into a frenzy.
